Free Family Reading Membership from Rob’s Books
A shared story can begin a wonderful adventure, even before a child speaks their first word.
Rob’s Books is developing a completely free, advertising-free family reading membership, bringing together digital stories, rhymes and creative activities for children from birth onwards, with practical encouragement for the adults who care for them.
Our aim is to make sharing stories an enjoyable part of everyday family life. Whether you have a few quiet minutes with your baby, an inquisitive toddler beside you or a young reader eager for another adventure, there will be something to explore together.
Stories and Activities to Grow With Your Child
We are planning a welcoming collection that develops alongside children’s changing interests, from first shared pictures and playful rhymes to early reading, imaginative adventures and longer stories.
The membership will include:
- Original digital stories and picture-led tales to share.
- Rhymes, repeated phrases and playful opportunities to join in.
- Serialised adventures for children who love discovering what happens next.
- Drawing, puzzles, imaginative play and story-inspired activities.
- Simple accompanying notes for parents, carers and grandparents.
- Flexible collections to help families find material suited to their children’s interests and needs.
Suggested ages and stages will offer a starting point, with freedom to explore across collections and revisit favourites.
A Helping Hand for Parents and Carers
You do not need to be a confident storyteller to enjoy a story with your child.
Our accompanying guidance will suggest easy ways to begin: looking at a picture, wondering what might happen next, joining in with a familiar phrase or following something that catches your child’s attention.
For babies and younger children, adults will guide the experience. Downloadable material will also provide ideas for activities away from the screen, with printable options where appropriate.
Enjoy a little or explore further. There is no need to finish every story or complete every activity.
Welcoming Different Ways of Joining In
Children enjoy stories and communicate in different ways. We are developing the membership with inclusion in mind, considering clear layouts, manageable passages, repetition and flexible activities.
We want to help families make informed choices, including those supporting children with learning difficulties, disabilities or additional communication needs. Accessibility options and collection details will be explained as the project develops.
Completely Free and Advertising-Free
There will be no membership fee and no advertising within the family reading membership.
Our wider Rob’s Books digital shop will remain available separately. This membership is being created as a free space for families to discover stories, enjoy activities and spend time together.
